The LM2593HV series voltage regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit that provides all the active functions of step-down (step-down) switching regulators, capable of driving 2A loads with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in 3.3V, 5V fixed output voltage and adjustable output versions.
Typical Application
This series of switching regulators is similar to the LM2592HV with additional monitoring and performance features. These regulators require a minimum number of external components, are simple to use and include internal frequency compensation †, improved line and load specifications, fixed frequency oscillators, shutdown/soft start, output error flags and flag delays.
Test Circuit
The LM2593HV operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, thus allowing a smaller size of filter assembly than is required for low frequency switching regulators. Available in a standard 7-lead TO-220 package with several different lead bending options, as well as a 7-lead TO-263 surface mount package.
Layout Guidelines
Additional features include a guaranteed tolerance of ±4% of the output voltage across all input voltage and output load conditions, and a tolerance of ±15% of the oscillator frequency. Including external shutdown, with typical 90 μA standby current. Self-protection features include two-stage current limiting of the output switch and fully protected overtemperature shutdown under fault conditions
