Vishay designed four new half-bridge and single-switch IGBT power modules specifically for TIG welding machines.
VS-GP100TS60SFPbF, VS-GP250SA60S, VS-GP300TD60S and VS-GP400TD60S are based on the proprietary Trench PT IGBT technology, which can provide extremely low collector-emitter voltage as low as 1.10 V, and provide output inverter Switch-off energy phase down to 11mJ.
With its Trench PT IGBT structure, Vishay Semiconductors devices released today achieve smaller dimensions than planar IGBTs, providing designers with higher current density and lower thermal resistance (as the case may be) without affecting performance. The device's extremely low collector-emitter voltage enables extremely low conduction losses, while its off-switching energy is 50% lower than the previous generation device, thereby improving efficiency and long-term reliability.
Half-bridge VS-GP100TS60SFPbF, VS-GP300TD60S and VS-GP400TD60S combine Trench PT IGBT with HEXFRED and FRED Pt anti-parallel diodes in INT-A-PAK and dual INT-A-PAK packages. 17mm single switch VS- GP250SA60S is available in SOT-227 package, has a very low stray inductance of ≤5nH, and is UL approved document E78996.
The RoHS-compliant module has an operating frequency of up to 1 kHz, a collector-emitter voltage of 600 V, and a continuous collector current of 100A to 400A. The company said that these devices can be mounted directly on the heat sink and have lower EMI to reduce buffering requirements.
