Toshiba - High current photorelays offer advanced performance and extended temperature

Toshiba Europe Electronics has introduced two new high-current photorelays that are manufactured using the latest U-MOS IX semiconductor process. The new TLP3553A and TLP3555A devices provide 30V and 60V off-state output terminal voltage ratings and 4A and 3A on-state continuous current ratings. These are higher than the previous generation products. When operating in pulse mode, the rated current of both devices rises to 9A. Common applications for these devices include industrial equipment, building automation systems, safety equipment, and replacement of mechanical relays in older systems. The TLP3553A has a low on-state resistance of only 50mOhm (maximum), which is smaller than a typical mechanical relay (about 100mOhm). This ensures that when equipment replaces mechanical relays often used in industrial applications (such as 1-Form-A), operating losses are minimized. Photorelays are rated for operating temperatures from -40 ° C to + 110 ° C, so they easily meet the thermal margin requirements in the design. The TLP3553A and TLP3555A are available in DIP4 packages with or without surface mount options.
