Keyence extends the portfolio of precision measurement technologies with a new high-precision image size measurement system
The range combines range-related ease of use with ground-breaking accuracy requirements and provides ±0.7μm accuracy in an increasingly wide range of applications.
Like the company's other systems, the series is easy and fast to program with intuitive on-screen help always provided, and it can operate with just one button. Projects do not need to be precisely positioned. At the same time, the fast stage movement and large field of view of the precision measurement system provide optimal speed because fewer images are required compared to other systems. The autofocus feature provides precise focus regardless of operating experience.
A convenient integral coaxial lamp provides a variety of lighting options, providing optimized and stable edge detection regardless of the item of material being measured. Although the system is typically used in laboratory environments, its low vibration phase is sufficient to withstand the rigors of workshop environments. Up to 300 dimensions can be measured simultaneously, while the series can measure up to 100 individual components simultaneously.
The integrated high magnification lens with Z-focus positioning provides high-precision, non-contact height and depth measurements for areas as small as 20 x 20μm. In addition, flat elements can be generated independently of the platform, and integral part slopes with flatness and interplane Angle measurements can be quickly added to the program. Suitable applications range from prototype and first piece inspection to in-process sample and part inspection; And pre-shipment and incoming inspection.
Ailsa Morrison, Application Engineer, Keyence Metrology department, explains, "Increasingly strict tolerances are a defining feature of modern manufacturing, and with the LM series, Keyence provides a fast and reliable way to verify part dimensions to a higher level of accuracy. Beyond that, it's really a system that anyone, anywhere can use, thanks to a set of automated and intuitive features."
