The LM2595 series voltage regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit available in a standard 5-pin TO-220 package with several different lead bend options, as well as a 5-pin TO-263 surface mount package. Generally, a radiator is not required when the output voltage is lower than 12v and the ambient temperature is lower than 50 ° C. And offers all the active functions of step-down (step-down) switching regulators, capable of driving 1-A loads with excellent line and load regulation.
Typical Application
These devices are available in 3.3V, 5v, 12v fixed output voltage and adjustable output versions. These regulators require a minimum number of external components and are simple to use, including internal frequency compensation and fixed frequency oscillators. The LM2595 series operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, thus allowing a smaller size of filter assembly than is required for low frequency switching regulators.
Standard series inductors are available from several different manufacturers optimized using the LM2595 series. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch-mode power supplies. Other features include a tolerance of ±4% for the output voltage and ±15% for the oscillator frequency under specified input voltage and output load conditions. Including external shutdown, it has a typical standby current of 85 μa. Self-protection features include two-stage frequency reduction current limiting of the output switch and complete protection of overtemperature shutdown under fault conditions
Pin Configuration
The LM2595 SIMPLE SWITCHER Voltage regulator is an easy-to-use, non-synchronous step-down DC-DC converter with a wide input voltage range up to 40 V. The regulator is capable of delivering up to 1-A DC load current with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in 3.3v, 5v, and 12v fixed output voltage and adjustable output versions. The series requires few external components and the pin arrangement is designed for simple, optimal PCB layout.
