The TLV5604 is a four-way 10-bit voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a flexible 4-wire serial interface. 4-wire serial interface allows glueless interface to TMS320, SPI, QSPI and Microwire serial ports. The TLV5604 is programmed with a 16-bit serial word consisting of a DAC address, separate DAC control bits, and a 10-bit DAC value.

Pin description

The device provides two power supply: one for the serial interface of the digital power supply (DVDD by pin and DGND), one for the dac, reference buffer and output buffer (via the pin AVDD and AGND). Each power supply is independent of each other and can be any value between 2.7V and 5.5V.

Dual power supplies allow for a typical application where the DAC will be controlled via a microprocessor running on a 3-V power supply (also used for DVDD and DGND pins) and the DAC running on a 5-V power supply. Of course, digital and analog power supplies can be bundled together. The resistance string output voltage is buffered by an x2 gain rail-to-rail output buffer.

Functional block diagram

The buffer has a Class AB output stage to improve stability and reduce settling time. Rail-to-rail output stage and power-off mode make it ideal for single-voltage, battery-based applications. The DAC's setup time is programmable, allowing designers to optimize speed and power consumption. The setting time is selected by the control bits in the 16-bit serial input string.

A high impedance buffer is incorporated on the REFINAB and REFINCD terminals to reduce the need for low source impedance drive to the terminal. REFINAB and REFINCD allow dac A and B to have different reference voltages, then dac C and d. The device is implemented using a CMOS process and can be used in 16-terminal SOIC and TSSOP packages. The TLV5604C features an operating range of 0°C to 70°C. The TLV5604I features operating temperatures from -40℃ to 85℃.
