TDK has introduced B3271*H* series of new EPCOS film capacitors. Suitable for high energy and power density DC support applications, the new series of components are rated for voltages ranging from 500 V DC to 1600 V DC, capacitance values ranging from 0.47 µF to 170 µF and maximum operating temperatures up to 105 °C. These components are rugged, self-healing, RoHS compliant and have a typical life of 95,000 hours at rated voltage and operating temperature of 70 °C.

The new series capacitors are available in 27.5, 37.5 and 52.5mm lead spacing, and are available in two pin and four pin versions. With more than 90 models, the design is very flexible. To this end, TDK has introduced the CLARA tool specifically to help users quickly fit DC support capacitors.

The new element combines low self-inductance (only 11.5 nH to 23 nH) and high ripple current capabilities, making it particularly suitable for SIC-based inverters operating at high switching frequencies. In addition, they are compliant with IEC 61071, AEC-Q200 and UL 810 standards for a wide range of typical industrial applications such as frequency converters, photovoltaic inverters, electric vehicle fast chargers, and automotive applications such as on-board chargers, auxiliary drives and power inverters.
