LM2931 is a very low drop regulator. It is ideal for automotive applications and prevents battery reverse mounting or 2 battery jumps. During transient processes, such as 60 V load dumps, when the input voltage exceeds the specified maximum working input voltage of 26 V, the regulator automatically shuts down to protect the internal circuit and load.
The extremely low step-down and low static current make them particularly suitable for low noise, low power applications and battery powered systems. In 8-pin configuration (SO-8), fully compatible with older L78L series, with shutdown logic control. This means that a portion of the board can be placed on standby when the device is used as a local regulator, thus reducing the total power consumption.
