STMicroelectronics' new STM32 Bluetooth wireless module enables designers to leverage the advantages of the STM32WB dual-core microcontroller (MCU) in wireless products, especially in low and medium volume projects. The module has Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 certification and a worldwide radio equipment license, supports the STM32Cube ecosystem, and helps simplify application development and accelerate product development cycles.
STM32WB1MMC multi-in-one module relieves supply chain tension and delivery time problems, and helps to avoid certification costs and certification delays in product development. The STM32WB1MMC is an LGA-packaged full-featured wireless communication reference design that assembs all the components needed for wireless products on an economical PCB board. There is an internal antenna on the module and a matching network optimized for the internal antenna. If you do not want to use the internal antenna, the external antenna pins are very convenient to connect the external antenna.
RF output power up to +6dBm, receive sensitivity -96 DBM, combined with optimized signal routing, the STM32WB1MMC can establish reliable remote communication with data rates up to 2Mbit/s. The switch power supply inside the module supplies power to the system. The entire module is manufactured in-house, which simplifies supply management and customer technical support. Stmicro's 10-year rolling life plan ensures a long-term supply of the product.
The module is based on 320KB flash memory and 48KB RAM STM32WB15 MCU. The Arm® Cortex®-M0+ and Cortex-M4 dual-core architecture ensures excellent real-time performance for both the M0+ RF subsystem and M4 user applications. The Bluetooth 5.3 protocol stack and profile support the latest features, including AD extensions. To minimize power requirements, the MCU provides flexible power management modes, including standby and stop 2 modes, to extend the life of self-powered devices for long periods of time without human intervention. This module allows developers to easily use the full functionality of the STM32WB15, including a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), various digital interfaces, and an interface.
Like the existing STM32WB5MMG module, which integrates larger flash memory and SRAM, the STM32WB1MMC module and its accompanying B-WB1M-WPAN1 evaluation board are fully integrated in the STM32Cube environment. Therefore, using this module to develop software is as convenient as using any STM32WB MCU development software.
The STM32CubeWB MCU package includes the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) firmware, the underlying API, the file system and the RTOS system. By sharing software packages with other STM32WB MCUS, developers can port existing projects directly to new modules, maximizing development flexibility and accelerating project completion.
