The increasing computerization in the automotive and industrial markets and the rapid development of current control applications and the trend of high-current circuit design have driven the growth in demand. Rohm's PSR series shunt resistors provide an ultra-low resistance range of 0.2mohm to 3mohm, and provide high power ratings (4W, 5W), making them ideal for current detection in high-current applications. Rohm relies on special technology to meet high power requirements and ensure high measurement accuracy even in ultra-low ohm (0.2mohm) areas, which requires the ability to bond copper electrodes without change. This is achieved through the original precision welding technology, which connects the resistive metal to the thick copper electrode, thereby achieving high heat capacity and excellent heat dissipation characteristics. This improves the power handling capacity (5W level), while increasing productivity. The company said that because the temperature coefficient of resistance in metals increases as the resistance value decreases, ROHM uses high-performance alloy materials for resistance metals to ensure excellent temperature coefficients of resistance even at ultra-low resistance. Typical applications of the PSR series include inverters, lithium-ion battery maintenance and charging, DC brush motors, DC-DC conversion and AC / DC conversion.
