The SC4201 is a multiphase link controller for isolated and non-isolated applications and is available in the MSOP-8 surface mount package. Its operating frequency can be programmed to exceed 2MHz per phase (oscillator frequency = phase frequency multiplied by the number of phases 3 or 4), and can be easily synchronized with external, faster frequencies.
Typical Application Circuit
The SC4201 output frequency can be set for 2/4 or 3-phase operation. A single pin can be set for 4-phase operation (each phase is 90 degrees apart) or 3-phase operation (120 degrees apart). The polyphase operation of multiple primary or secondary controllers reduces the input/output ripple, the number of components required for filtering, and the noise caused by the frequency jump produced by multiple free-running oscillators.
