Nexperia releases 650 V ultrafast recovery rectifier tube for automotive and industrial applications

Technology Cover
Post-datum: 2022-11-22, Nexperia USA Inc.

Nexperia announced the addition of its FlatPower (CFP) package diode portfolio for industrial and automotive applications. New additions include four 650 V, 1 A devices in CFP3 and CFP5 packages for on-board chargers (OBC) and electric vehicle inverters, as well as power converters, PV inverters and power supplies in industrial applications. Standard products include PNU65010ER (CFP3) and PNU65010EP (CFP5), and AEC-Q101 compliant products include PNU65010ER-Q (CFP3) and PNU65010EP-Q (CFP5).

Package outline

These automotive and industrial grade rectifiers optimise ultra-fast soft switching behaviour and low forward voltage drop to minimise power loss in high frequency applications. The new product's CFP pin size, compared to SMA/B packaged devices, saves circuit board space and supports reliable high-density design without compromising electrical performance. These 650 V diode devices have been used in a variety of designs by tier 1 automotive and industrial suppliers.

Nexperia continues to invest and expand capacity to meet the growing demand for CFP packaging products. To meet demand for high-voltage power applications, Nexperia plans to further expand its 650 V surface-mounted quick-recovery rectifier tubes (up to 30 A), offering a rich product portfolio that exceeds its peers in the market. For products with A current rating of more than 10 A, customers can choose between fast recovery and fast recovery switch products when selecting a forward voltage specification.

The first CFP devices with higher current ratings (2 A and 3 A) are scheduled for release in the first quarter of next year. Additional DPAK/D2PAK packages are scheduled for release in the second half of 2023 and 2024, as well as in standard and regular versions.
