Microchip has released the industry's first MOST150 coaxial transceiver. The company's OS82150 device extends the use of coaxial cable to a powerful automotive infotainment network based on the latest MOST150 standard. The device integrates a coaxial cable driver and coaxial cable receiver into a small 4mm x 4mm QFN package. The OS82150 coaxial transceiver expands the product range of Microchip ’s MOST150 network solutions and provides users with new options for implementing efficient infotainment networks. It can also easily transition from fiber optic cable to coaxial cable while protecting customers' existing investments in MOST150 technology. This simple solution reflects today's market demand for powerful automotive infotainment systems including navigation units, antenna modules, amplifiers, tuners, Blu-ray players, rear seat entertainment systems, dashboards, host displays, Camera, etc. MOST network technology provides a way to distribute these multimedia entertainment functions among various control devices in the car. With the integrated coaxial cable receiver with equalization function, the OS82150 coaxial transceiver can automatically adapt to various cable types and continuously compensate for the initial and long-term cable loss effects, thereby ensuring a strong and reliable network connection. Designed for automotive-grade electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), the OS82150 can be easily integrated into existing designs by seamlessly interfacing with the MOST150 Intelligent Network Interface Controller (INIC), such as Microchip's OS81110 and OS81118BF. In addition, the signal and timing specifications of OS82150 are in compliance with the MOST physical layer specifications, ensuring interoperability. Other features of the OS82150 coaxial transceiver include a low-power sleep mode with activity detection for wake-up signals to reduce power consumption and facilitate power management of electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles. Support for dual-simplex transmission allows a ring topology, which enables network scalability and scalability. A single 3.3-volt power supply simplifies design further because only one voltage level is required. To further promote development and speed time to market, OS82150 is supported by K2L's OS81110 cPhy evaluation board and K2L's OptoLyzer MOCCA kit. The OS81110 cPhy evaluation board encapsulates the entire MOST150 network device. The integrated OS85650 I / O companion chip (IOC) provides I / O port expansion to increase application flexibility. The OptoLyzer MOCCA software package combines the functionality of the popular OptoLyzer Suite graphical user interface with the advantages of the OptoLyzer MOCCA multi-bus hardware interface. The company said that the OS82150 is available in a 4mm x 4mm QFN package for sampling and mass production.
