The MAX77826 power management IC (PMIC) from Maxim Integrated is the latest 3G and 4G smartphone, tablet and handheld product with a highly integrated sub power management IC. It contains a high efficiency buck regulator, a buck boost regulator and 15 low dropout regulators (LDOs) to power peripherals. The MAX77826 is available in a 3mm2 WLP package, which saves board space and allows designers to add more peripherals.
The device provides power on / off control logic and an I2C serial interface to program the output voltage of each regulator and provides on / off control for complete flexibility. The 3A current mode buck regulator consumes only 22μA quiescent current in normal operating mode, and consumes only 8μA in low power mode, thereby reducing load capacity. The linear LDO supports the remote capacitor function and provides a rejection ratio (PSRR) of more than 70dB and noise of less than 45μVRMS. The MAX77826 has an I2C-compatible two-wire serial interface, including a bidirectional serial data line (SDA) and a serial clock line (SCL). In addition, the IC supports SCL rates up to 3.4MHz. The MAX77826 is available in a 49-ball, 3.018 mm x 3.018 mm WLP package.
