Keysight Technologies, Inc. today announced the release of its next-generation Dual Pulse Tester (DPT), the PD1550A Power Dynamics Parameter Analyzer, with enhanced capabilities, enabling customers to test power modules faster and easier than ever before. Due to their simple design, high energy density, and reliability, power modules are widely used in various industries such as electric vehicles (EVs), solar photovoltaics, trains, home appliances, and aircraft. Based on the characteristics of wide bandgap (WBG) devices, developers will quickly switch switches, reduce the size of power electronic modules, and ensure that the advantages of efficiency continue to power modules. However, this also creates challenges for testing wide-bandgap semiconductor power modules, and we need new solutions to properly evaluate these products, while addressing module design issues and shortening development cycles.
Keysight's previous generation PD1500A Power Device Dynamic Analyzer/Dual Pulse Tester, launched in 2019, is Keysight's first solution for power device dynamic performance evaluation, and is currently used by power device developers and power semiconductor manufacturers around the world widely used by merchants. Now, the new PD1550A extends the capabilities of the PD1500A, providing a test solution for testing the entire power module (1360 V/1000 A). As a result, automotive equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 suppliers, and power module developers can accelerate development and gain a greater understanding of the dynamic characteristics of power modules to improve the safety and reliability of automotive power circuits.
