Keysight Technologies, Inc. today announced that the Keysight Open Radio Architecture (KORA) solution helped MICAS achieve its first O-RAN certification for its 5G O-RU. The O-RAN conformance certification is issued by the OTIC Certification Center of Zhongguancun Pan-Joint Institute. Keysight Technologies provides advanced design and verification solutions designed to accelerate innovation and create a secure, connected world.
Hugh Chow, Chairman of MICAS Group and former CEO of ASTRI, said: "Thanks to Keysight's mature O-RU test solutions and professional technical support, MICAS' O-RU has obtained the world's first O-RAN certificate. MICAS is a world-class independent design company that provides reference solutions for all types of signal chains, including advanced O-RUs (FR1 and FR2). Utilize our modular software and hardware to provide flexible signal chain solutions for vertical industries. "
Earlier this year, the O-RAN Alliance launched the Certificate and Badging Program in partnership with OTIC (Open Testing and Integration Centers). The O-RAN Certificate indicates that the equipment or function complies with the O-RAN specification, while the O-RAN Badge confirms the interoperability or end-to-end functionality of the O-RAN solution. O-RAN Certificate and Badge are issued by OTIC, which provides a collaborative, open and impartial working environment to ensure the consistency and validity of O-RAN product and solution testing.
Dr. Zhiling Yi, Co-Chairman of the O-RAN Alliance and O-RAN Technical Steering Committee, said: "The O-RAN Certification Program is designed to provide confidence in ensuring the interoperability and consistency of O-RAN products. Congratulations to MICAS, Keysight and This new milestone has been achieved by the OTIC Certification Center of the Zhongguancun Pan-Joint Academy. We look forward to issuing additional certifications to other ecosystem partners in the near future, which will help accelerate the deployment of O-RAN technologies and solutions globally. availability."
Academician Zhang Ping, Dean of the Zhongguancun Pan-United Institute, said: "The Zhongguancun Pan-United Institute OTIC Certification Center, as the first batch in the world and the only OTIC officially authorized certification center in mainland China, has actively promoted the development of the industry since its establishment, and actively led the instrument manufacturers and various manufacturers. Equipment manufacturers have fully communicated and cooperated with each other. At the moment when the epidemic is raging, it is not easy to complete the world's first O-RU product certification. Conformance test certification is an important part of the wireless cloud network certification system. Carry out interoperability testing and certification and end-to-end testing certification, and conduct a more comprehensive evaluation of the tested products. I hope that Zhongguancun Panlian Institute can attract more and more manufacturers and instrument partners to jointly promote the prosperity and development of my country's mobile communication industry. "
KORA is a comprehensive set of O-RAN test solutions from early pre-silicon development to system integration. This enables O-RAN vendors, mobile operators, service providers, system integrators and OTICs to verify conformance throughout the network lifecycle through test automation that accelerates O-RAN development, certification, labelling, integration and deployment , interoperability, performance and security.
"O-RAN certification of 5G O-RU requires extensive testing of 31 test cases that have been validated to ensure compliance with O-RAN WG4 open Fronthaul (OFH) Control, User, Synchronization, and Management (CUSM) Plane Specification. Keysight is pleased to have partnered with MICAS and the Zhongguancun OTIC Certification Center to achieve this important milestone. We congratulate their 5G O-RU for obtaining The first batch of O-RAN certifications.”
Leveraging Keysight's unique and in-depth expertise, conformance and certification testing solutions, and Test-as-a-Service (TaaS), the 5G O-RU for MICAS complies with the O-RAN Alliance Working Group (WG4) Open Fronthaul Interface Specification and Complete O-RAN O-RU certification for relevant testing. The O-RAN WG4 conformance test specification is used for control, user, synchronization and management plane conformance certification tests.
