The IDT ZSSC3230 capacitive sensor signal conditioner IC is a CMOS integrated circuit for accurate capacitive digital conversion and sensor-specific correction of capacitive sensor signals. Devices can now be purchased from Mouser. Digital compensation of sensor offset, sensitivity, and temperature drift is achieved through an internal digital signal processor that runs a correction algorithm and stores calibration coefficients in non-volatile multi-time programmable memory. These ICs provide simple programming via a serial interface. This interface is used for PC-controlled calibration programs that program the calibration coefficient set in memory. The device can be configured to provide capacitive sensors with up to 30pF capacitance and provides output resolutions that can be extended to 18 bits. The device is compatible with single-ended capacitive sensors. The measured and corrected sensor value can be output as I2C (≤3.4MHz). This device speeds up signal processing, improves resolution, and improves noise immunity. These features assist high-speed control, safety and real-time sensing applications with the highest demands on energy efficiency. Typical applications include humidity sensors, pressure sensors, level sensors; smart, digital, capacitive sensors for energy-saving solutions; consumer products / white goods; and medical applications.
