The MAX16974 is a 2A, current mode, step-down converter with an integrated high side switch. The device has a good power monitor to simplify power sorting. The device operates in the automotive temperature range from -40°C to +125°C and is packaged in a 16-pin TSSOP-EP package.
Internal block diagram
The device operates in skip mode to reduce current consumption in light load applications. An adjustable reset threshold helps keep the microcontroller alive to its lowest specified input voltage. Protection features include cyclic current limiting, overvoltage, and automatic recovery of thermal shutdown.
Pin Configuration
It is designed to operate at 3.5V to 28V input voltages, while using only 35FA static current when unloaded. The switching frequency can be adjusted from 220kHz to 2.2MHz by an external resistor and can be synchronized with an external clock. The output voltage is pin selectable with 5V fixed or adjustable with 1V to 10V. The wide input voltage range makes the device ideal for automotive and industrial applications.
