The MAX14699 Overvoltage Protection (OVP) device features a low 38mΩ(typical) on-resistance (RON) internal FET and protects low-voltage systems from voltage failures of up to +28VDC. Overcurrent events are prevented by internal thermal shut-off and are available in a small 12-point WLP package for extended temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C.

Timing Diagram
The MAX14699's internal pliers also protect the device from surges of up to +100V. The MAX14699 has a 100ns(typical) overvoltage response time to minimize voltage rise on the OUT during overvoltage events. When the input voltage exceeds the overvoltage threshold, the internal FET shuts down quickly to prevent damage to the protected downstream components. The overvoltage protection threshold can be adjusted to any voltage between 4V and 20V with optional external resistors.
Functional Diagram
When the OVLO input setting is lower than the external OVLO selection voltage, the MAX14699 automatically selects the exact internal trip threshold. The internal overvoltage threshold (OVLO) is preset at 13.75V (typ). The device has a leak-open ACOK output, indicating stable supply between the minimum supply voltage and the VOVLO.
