AAT3176A is a charge pump converter IC with high output current, high efficiency, low noise and low profile, ideal for multifunctional LED flash applications where solution cost, size and efficiency are critical. Available in 2.2 x 2.2mm pb free 10-pin TDFN package. The charge pump is capable of delivering up to 500mA of output current and can be easily programmed 16-step through a single GPIO output via Skyworks' S2Cwire(Simple Serial control) interface.
Functional block diagram
This allows smooth transitions and flexibility in adjusting brightness in flash or other lighting modes. Operating at a fast 1MHz switching frequency, the dual mode (1x/2x) operation of the internal charge pump provides excellent power efficiency for flash and movie modes, and combined with the low number of external parts (a 1μF flight capacitor and small bypass capacitor for VIN and OUT), the AAT3176A is well suited for small battery-powered applications.
Typical Application
The maximum current for Flash and Movie modes is set by two separate external resistors. The MODE pin is used to select the LED current between Movie (Torch) mode and Flash mode. The AAT3176A features a thermal management system to protect equipment in short, open and over temperature conditions. Built-in soft starting circuit prevents excessive inrush during startup. The shutdown feature disconnects the load from the VIN and reduces the static current to less than 1.0μA.
