Designed for point-of-load (PoL) power supplies, Exar 10A (XR79110), 15A (XR79115) and 20A (XR79120) XR791xx synchronous step-down power modules. They are targeted at applications such as networking and communications, fast transient PoL designs, industrial and medical equipment, and embedded high-power FPGA circuits. The wide input voltage range of 4.5V or 5V to 22V allows single power supply from industry standard 5V, 12V and 19.6V rails. With proprietary emulated current-mode constant-on-time (COT) control schemes, each of these devices uses ceramic output capacitors to provide extremely fast line and load transient response. They do not require loop compensation, thus simplifying circuit implementation and reducing the total number of components. Optional power saving mode allows users to work in discontinuous mode (DCM) at light load, which greatly improves converter efficiency. Each device has many protection features, including overcurrent, overheating, short circuit and UVLO, to operate safely under abnormal operating conditions.
