Dual boot, 12v MOSFET driver output disabled

Technology Cover
Post-datum: 2023-02-05, ON Semiconductor

The ADP3120A is a single phase 12v MOSFET gate driver that drives high - and low-side power MOSFET gates in synchronous step-down converters. High - and low-side drivers are capable of driving 3000pf loads with a transfer delay of 45ns and a conversion time of 25ns.

Pin definition

With a wide operating voltage range, high - or low-side MOSFET gate drive voltages can be optimized for optimal efficiency. Internal adaptive non-overlapping circuits further reduce switching losses by preventing both MosFeTs from being switched on simultaneously.

Block Diagram

The floating top driver is designed to accommodate voltages up to 35 V VBST and transient voltages up to 40 V. Both gate outputs can drive the low level by applying a low logic level to the output Disable (OD) pin. The undervoltage lock feature ensures that the output of both drives is low when the power supply is low, and the thermal shutdown feature provides over-temperature protection for the IC.
