    Infineon Technologies recently launched EiceDRIVER 2ED4820-EM, which is an intelligent door driver with SPI interface. The gate driver is an excellent companion to its 80/100V Optimmos MOSFET. It is also an excellent choice for switching large current loads in 48V mesh plates.

     This intelligent dual-channel high-side door driver in the EiceDRIVER APD series can withstand negative voltages from Vbat up to -90V and voltages up to +105V. These different voltage conditions may occur through short circuits or bad contact connection events. In addition, the new device has a current detection amplifier that can be used for high - or low-side measurements. Low-side measurements help reduce cost, PCB space and overall power consumption because existing battery management systems can use shunt resistors. With two integrated output channels, you can control a dedicated precharge path or separate the charge and discharge current paths of the battery, further reducing PCB space and overall cost.

   The device is pro-sil iso26262 ready and provides safety application instructions to aid in the use of functional safety applications. To speed up the design process, an evaluation board and reference board equipped with EiceDRIVER APD 2ED4820-EM can be ordered.
