The AP3127 / H current-mode PWM controller provided by Diodes Incorporated is optimized for fast-charging applications in consumer portable products such as smartphone chargers and notebook adapters, providing a high-performance and cost-effective solution. Other applications in the consumer electronics and communications markets include: set-top boxes, gaming consoles, modems, and networking equipment. In normal operation, the PWM switching frequencies of the AP3127 and AP3127H controllers in the standard SOT26 package are internally fixed at 65kHz and 100kHz, respectively. However, under moderate load conditions, the device will enter green mode, which uses a foldback frequency to reduce the switching frequency to improve system efficiency, although a minimum switching frequency of 20kHz ensures that any audible noise is avoided. Under no-load or light-load conditions, the IC uses burst mode to minimize standby power consumption, while the built-in frequency jitter function reduces EMI emissions.
