Eggtronic has released the AC/DC demo and development board to accelerate the design, prototyping and implementation of efficient, high-performance, ultra-compact power converters, power adapters and device chargers. The new 35W AC/DC development board uses EcoVoltas QuarEgg+ technology. Ideal for USB-PD and fixed-power output applications, the board is available with GaN mosFEts (maximum performance) or silicon MOSfets (cost-effective solutions).

It has developed EcoVoltas' proprietary, patented power conversion architecture to help engineers achieve long-term goals in cost, size, weight and sustainability. The architecture improves the performance of FET switching devices, whether they are based on conventional silicon or GaN and SiC WBG materials. EcoVoltas QuarEgg+ micro, ultra-efficient power converters reduce losses by up to five times, are twice smaller than conventional silicon converters, reduce losses by up to two times, and are 30% smaller than previous GaN converters.

Using the development board, designers can also reduce so-called "vampire power" because the no-load power consumption is less than 18mW. The new AC/DC development board combines THE FET with all components required for production work usB-PD or fixed output converters. Peak efficiency exceeds 94%, while a very flat efficiency curve ensures maximum efficiency and minimal power loss across the widest load spectrum.

The new board is only 38.3mm x 38.3mm x 18.6mm in size and can accommodate a wide input voltage range from 90VAC to 264VAC. Configurable output options are 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.9A, 15V/2.3A and 20V/1.75A. A version of the development board provides easy access to each test point and also provides a simplified design of QuarEgg based power adapters

Eggtronic CEO and Founder Igor Spinella said: "EcoVoltas QuarEgg+ takes a completely different approach to manipulating and converting power, supporting the creation of the smallest, most efficient and environmentally friendly power converter." "The 35W AC/DC development board enables engineers to very quickly understand the size, weight, cost, efficiency and design flexibility that QuarEgg+ has to offer in its latest USB-PD and fixed output power adapter designs."
