ADI's ADL6010 envelope detector is a versatile broadband envelope detector that covers the microwave spectrum. The device comes in an easy-to-use six-pin form factor, providing the latest accuracy and extremely low power consumption (8mW). The output is a baseband voltage that is proportional to the instantaneous amplitude of the RF input signal. This device shows the smallest slope change from the RF input to the envelope output transfer function from 0.5GHz to 43.5GHz. The detector unit uses a proprietary eight Schottky diode array followed by a novel linearizer circuit that creates a linear voltmeter. This is achieved by an overall scale factor (or transmission gain) with a nominal value of x2.2 relative to the input voltage amplitude. Typical applications include microwave point-to-point links, microwave instruments, and radar-based measurement systems.
