Microchip Technology announced the production qualification of the MPFS250T and the previously announced MPFS025T. It also revealed that its Mi-V ecosystem continues to simplify the adoption of RISC-V while allowing for newer industrial, IoT and other edge computing products that are smaller, more energy efficient and lower cost.

Shakeel Peera, Vp of marketing, Microchip FPGA Business Unit said:"We now have a large number of customers designing in the PolarFire SoC family using our Mi-V tools and solutions,"  "These customers have developed innovative products that bring best-in-class solutions to market with superior thermal and electrical efficiency, as well as unprecedented computing power in small size factors. "We are writing a new chapter in risC-V history with the availability of our product-qualified SoC PolarFire facility."

Innovations in SoCs provide new solutions to challenges such as increasing computational power efficiency, delivering computational acceleration at the network edge, and delivering unmatched capabilities for communications, defense, medical, and industrial automation applications. And PolarFire SoC FPGAs offer new configurable processing opportunities with hardened real-time, Linux-enabled RISC-V microprocessor subsystems on fast FPGA fabrics, thanks to the company's commitment to product roadmaps and long-term availability.

The ecosystem is equally important for RISC-V adoption, with more than 24 partners working with it to continuously scale this low-cost evaluation platform and rapidly deploy designs across industries. And it spans a wide variety of IP, hardware, operating systems, debuggers, middleware, compilers, and design services.

Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International said:"Microchip's PolarFire SoC FPGA and Mi-V ecosystem provide an excellent platform for evaluating RISC-V-based Multicore soCs with Linux support,"  "The market now has a production of qualified RISC-V solutions that can be sourced and adopted in their designs. The FPGA architecture is an innovative platform that provides hardware acceleration for system design."
