The MCP4802/4812/4822 device is a dual 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit buffered voltage output digital-to-analog converter (dac). Available in PDIP, SOIC, and MSOP packages. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply and has SPI-compatible serial peripheral interfaces. The device has a high precision internal reference voltage (VREF = 2.048V). The user can configure the device to have a full scale range of 2.048V or 4.096V by setting the gain selection option bit (the gain of 1 of 2).

Package Types

Each DAC channel can operate in active or off mode by setting the configuration register bits, respectively. In shutdown mode, close the channel most of the internal circuit is closed to save power, output amplifier output is configured to provide a known high resistance load .The device includes dual buffer registers that allow the two DAC outputs to be synchronously updated using LDAC pins.

These devices also include a power-on reset (POR) circuit to ensure reliable power-on. The device has the inherent advantages of low DNL error, low specific metric temperature coefficient, and fast settling time using a resistance series structure. These devices are specified in an extended temperature range (+125°C). The device provides high precision and low noise performance for consumer and industrial applications where signals such as temperature, pressure and humidity need to be calibrated or compensated.
