The MP2102 is a dual output, internally compensated, 1.5MHz fixed frequency PWM step-down converter. Features a small 10-pin QFN with exposed liner and 10-pin MSOP package. It is ideal for powering portable devices by a single battery of lithium ions (Li+). Each channel of the MP2102 can deliver 800mA of load current from 2.5V to 6V input voltage.
Typical application
Both output voltages can be adjusted to 0.6V. The device features an integrated high-side switch and synchronous rectifier for efficient step-down conversion without the need for an external Schottky diode. With peak current mode control and internal compensation, the MP2102 can be stabilized with ceramic capacitors and small inductors. Fault state protection includes cycle limiting and hot shutdown.
Block diagram
The MP2102 can operate at 2.5V input voltage; However, due to the large infrared drop of the main switch and synchronous rectifier, the maximum load current is reduced at low input. Slope compensation signals reduce peak inductance current as a function of duty ratio to prevent subharmonic oscillations when duty ratio is greater than 50%. On the contrary, when duty cycle decreases, the current limit increases.
