RT8471 is an efficient continuous mode inductive step-down converter designed to drive single or more series-connected leds from a voltage source higher than the LED voltage. It has an input voltage of 7V to 36V and uses hysteresis control of a high side current induction resistor to set a constant output current.
Typical application circuit
Functional block diagram
The RT8471 includes an output switch and a high-side output current sensing circuit that uses an external resistor to set the nominal average output current. LED brightness control is achieved by PWM dimming of analog or PWM input signals. The RT8471 is available in small TSOT-23-5 packages or more thermal efficient SOP-8(exposed pad) and MSOP8(exposed pad) packages.
