Intel announces it will phase out 12th-generation Alder Lake mobile processors

Plaats op januari 18, 2025

Intel is gradually phasing out its 12th-generation Alder Lake series mobile CPUs, covering the standard Core i3, i5, i7, and i9 series, as well as some Pentium and Celeron models with the same architecture, but excluding the HX series.

Intel's announcement shows that it will submit a product discontinuation request to local representatives on April 11, and the supply date of Alder Lake mobile CPUs for most OEM manufacturers will end on July 25, and the last batch of products will stop shipping on January 23, 2026.

IT Home noted that although many of these processor models have been used in entry-level office and even gaming notebooks, they have gradually been replaced by similar 13th-generation products.

In fact, Intel's 13th generation (Raptor Lake), 14th generation (Raptor Lake-Refresh), Core 100U (Raptor Lake-Refresh), and Core 200H/U (Raptor Lake-Refresh) series basically follow the design similar to Alder Lake, so it is unlikely that new products will purchase Alder Lake processors.

As mentioned earlier, most of these processors have successor products. For example, the i5-1235U for thin and light notebooks can also choose the better-performing i5-1335U, Core 5 120U or Core 5 220U, all of which use the same FCBGA1744 socket and design.
